Opossums (Dedelphis virginiana)
Opossum on a fence in Central Florida
The opossum is likely one of the least liked nuisance wildlife animals, yet they have a very undeserved reputation. While they are not necessarily the most visually appealing species, they are quite beneficial to our natural environment. A naturally low body temperature which is often unsuitable to carry the rabies virus (and other potential viruses) and a desire to eat ticks which carry a plethora of harmful viruses and diseases, makes this little creature a highly beneficial animal to our natural environment.
Unfortunately, its benefits to the environment do not necessarily excuse it from the damage that it can do to the attic and crawl space of a home. Damage to insulation, vapor barriers, and duct work usually results in the dismissal of its natural benefits to the average homeowner. However, Nature-Tech Wildlife Solutions LLC can help both the animal and the homeowner to co-exist a little better.
We offer trapping, relocation and exclusion services which will make the process seem much more palatable to the homeowner, while protecting the opossum in question. If you live in Polk County, Hillsborough County, or Pasco County Florida and think you may have a resident opossum under or otherwise inside your home, give us a call today and let us know how we can help!
